100% Up To €500Greek mythology can be very complicated, and a part of the reason for that is that there are multiple sets of deities that ruled during different periods of time. One group of those were the titans, and the leader of the titans was Kronos, the father of Zeus and his brothers and sisters. The Kronos Unleashed slot, available at WMS casinos, brings this titan to life over the top of a huge grid of symbols, and it's done so in the tremendous graphical style that this company is known for. They've done a great job with the visual appeal and the in-depth gameplay that's based around very solid features.
The layout here is huge and made for a ton of action. You'll have five vertical reels of symbols, but there are eight horizontal rows, and a total of 60 paylines are spread across this grid. All paylines go from left to right only, but there are some exceptions to this, which you'll see in the feature descriptions down below. Even though there are 60 lines, the minimum bet size is just $0.20, which is small enough for pretty much any bankroll. You can make the bet size as much as $50 per turn, and since all of the win sizes are based on the total amount you're wagering instead of line bet wins, it's much easier to have an accurate idea of how much you're going to pick up for the various winning combinations.
Two main symbols drive the majority of the action for this game. The first is the wild symbol, and it shows up on the middle three reels only. Wild symbols obviously help you to get extra wins, but combined with the larger layout and a whooping 60 paylines, they're worth more than usual.
The Kronos symbol, however, works a bit differently. It pays in both directions, and it's the only symbol to do so, so it can combine with the wilds across the second, third and fourth reels to create a lot of extra wins that you wouldn't have received otherwise, particularly from the right-hand side of the game board. Three of a kind is worth 0.1x, four of a kind gets you 0.25x, and five of a kind pays out 1.25x. These wins might seem small, but they are made bigger by the fact that you'll almost always get several wins on the same spin with the way the game is designed.
Three or more scatters activates the bonus feature. However, the scatters can appear in groups, so this is easier than it might seem. The number of free spins you get is determined by how many scatters show up and how many groups they appear in with a somewhat complicated formula. What you need to know is that there is consistency to how it's determined, and you can end up with several dozen free turns at once.
If you get six or more of the golden Kronos symbol on the first reel, then you activate the Lightning Re-spin Feature. The way this feature works is that the first reel becomes completely covered with Kronos, and the rest of the reels will consist of powerup symbols or two other colors of Kronos. The different power-ups add goodies that give you more value like more spins or multipliers, and the progression from gold to red to purple means better payouts for the Kronos symbols during this feature.
There are five jackpots on the side of the reels, and they increase or decreased based on your bet size. Aside from those, there are eight other paying symbols. The lion and unicorn get 0.75x for five of a kind, and the throne and crown each earn 0.6x for five. Five of the A, K, Q or J symbols all give you the same win of 0.5x.
The pay table for the Kronos Unleashed slot by WMS is a bit misleading. The wins seem much smaller than they actually are in practice because of how high the hit-rate is and how many wins you'll be getting, on average, on the same spin. Aside from that, the set of features is very strong even though there are only two of them, and that's because each of them has a lot of depth. This title looks great and plays very well, which is par for the course for this developer.
Titanic wins are on offer with Kronos who was the leader of the Titans in yet another Greek mythology themed online slot. Often depicted in drawings and paintings clutching a harpe which he is said to have castrated and deposed his father with, Kronos overthrew Uranus so that he could rule during the Golden Age of Ancient Greece, only to be overthrown by his own son Zeus (what goes around, comes around, hey?) and becoming imprisoned in Tartarus.
The Kronos slot machine from WMS actually follows on from their range of Zeus-themed slot machines which consist of the original Zeus slot, the Zeus 1000 slot machine and the Zeus III slot machine - but will Kronos show his son once and for all that he was the mightiest of all, or will you be running back to the Zeus slots for big wins instead?
The Kronos slot machine has a friendly return to player percentage of 95.94% and consists of a simple 5 reel and 20 payline setup with stake per line options ranging from 1p to £3, meaning all paylines active will cost you from 20p up to a maximum of £60 each and every spin.
The mythological theme instantly transcends across the reels with intricately designed symbols, but the inclusion of playing card suits among the eleven symbols that feature is rather disappointing and you have to feel WMS could have substituted these for more relevant options – heck, there is a plethora of options with any Greek God such as his wife (who also happened to be his sister) Rhea.
Renowned for being serpentine shape with three heads – a man, bull and a lion, the Wild symbol perfectly illustrates this attribute of Kronus, appearing like it’s been etched in stone. This symbol only adorns the second, third and fourth reels but it can substitute for all but the Feature symbols. The Feature symbol is a large Gold Medallion and this is required for the free spins mode, plus there is also an iconic Kronos symbol which is stacked – but more on that below.
In addition to these symbols the mystical home of the Gods Mount Olympus features with a golden throne, ornamental ring, the ‘winged horse’ Pegasus, plus low valued playing card suit symbols of heart, diamond, club and spade.
In true Greek God style, Kronos stands proudly with his chest puffed out and massive arms on show with his fist clenched tightly when he appears stacked (symbols stacked on top of each other rather than just a sole symbol). Kronos in winning combinations on adjacent reels pay left to right or right to left, and should you land a winning combination with Kronos he spreads across the reels unleashing his Godly powers to develop incredible wins.
The Godly wins in the Kronos slot machine come from the sensational free spins mode which can see you trigger 10, 25, or 100 free spins depending on the number of Feature symbols (Gold Medallion) that you land anywhere on the reels during the same spin, as follows.
Three Feature Symbols: 10 free spins
Four Feature Symbols: 25 free spins
Five Feature Symbols: 100 free spins
The prospect of triggering 100 free spins is certainly nothing to be laughed at – it’s one of the highest amounts I’ve ever encountered after reviewing hundreds of online slot machines. Of course, more often than not it’s 10 free spins you’ll find yourself enjoying as it’s much more common to land three Scatter symbols on the reels. There are disappointing aspects of the free spins mode too though. There are no multipliers attached to your wins, plus you cannot retrigger additional free spins – but with up to 100 spins on offer perhaps that’s being just a tad greedy?!
Kronos was released by WMS after their series of Zeus slots which are among their most popular titles, therefore a lot was expected of Kronos. Overall it is a very enjoyable slot with a fantastic design set high up in the clouds and distinctive symbols relating to Greek mythology, however the only incentive you’ll have to spin the reels is the free spins mode. While the allure of triggering 100 free spins mode will see lots of players swarm the reels, the reality is that it will be 10 free spins almost all the time instead and that magic number of 100 will seem like your head is in the clouds with Kronos and co!
